Plains Cottage: A Peek Into Her Past with a First Lady
This is the small southern town that reared a President and First Lady. And I am proud and honored to be neighbors of former President Jimmy Carter and his lovely wife and First Lady, Rosalyn Carter.
The former First Lady and I spend many a day talking about our love of flowers and butterflies as you can see here taken recently at my cottage in Plains.
I am truly feeling at home now. It's as if I've stepped into a Hallmark movie, which by the way I always secretly wished I lived in one of the towns! Now I do.
Plains, a small Sumter County town in southwest Georgia, is located approximately nine miles west of Americus and thirty-seven miles north of Albany.
Situated in the northern part of Georgia's peanut belt, this farming community is rich in history and good 'ole Americana -- both of which I love!
This is where former President Jimmy Carter was raised. Read my post about my visit to Jimmy Carter's boyhood farm (a national park) here.
I really enjoyed my first visit here a few weeks ago. I'll be visiting again this week as I heard at church yesterday they got a new donkey or two.
We go to Jimmy Carter's church, Maranatha Baptist, here in Plains by the way. I encourage you to come to service sometime!

Plains, Georgia as well as the cottage is rooted in its love for our diverse community, God, and the love of our country. If you love all of these things like I do, then this is the place for you to visit!
Celebrating the holidays like Christmas, Easter, and 4th of July are unlike any other here in Plains, Georgia - home of the 39th President Jimmy Carter.
I’d love to see your pictures of our Plains! When you visit, be sure to use the hashtag #PlainsCottage and #PlainsGeorgia so I can enjoy seeing them!
