Growing Parsley in Your RV or Home Garden

Updated: Feb 7, 2021

Plant parenting can be scary, so start out small with herbs. I’m no garden pro by any means, but over the past few years I’ve learned a fair amount about gardening and picked up on a few things that could help you get your start. So here are some of my tips that will hopefully give you the confidence to try your hand at your own RV or home garden.

Why grow parsley you ask? Well if you like to cook and garnish a lot like I do, then parsley is one of the must-have herbs you'll want to grow. It is also a fairly easy herb to grow too!

The two most common types are curly leaf and flat leaf. I actually grow both varieties because I use them for different dishes I cook and use them for garnish, which makes my meals look pretty!

Growing Parsley In Your RV Garden

As you can see from my photo below, I have my curly leaf parsley growing in a hanging pot. Any RV herb garden benefits from the addition of parsley.

Here's My RV Garden Guide to Growing Parsley:

1. Choose non-GMO parsley seeds.

2. Next you'll need a good hanging container with drainage holes

3. Add a soil-less potting mix (garden soil is too heavy to use in a pot)

4. Sow seeds 1 to 2 inches part, about 1/4 inch deep

5. Place the parsley pots in the brightest and sunniest spot in your RV camp site as possible.

At my farmhouse, I grow both types of parsley - curly leaf and flat leaf. Because I cook with it a lot, I never have to worry about running out.

With more room to garden, I like to grow my herbs in

Health Benefits of Growing Parsley

Did you know parsley is good for you and has health benefits?

#Parsley is a versatile herb that provides a concentrated source of nutrients. It’s particularly rich in vitamins A, C, and K. The vitamins and beneficial plant compounds in parsley may improve bone health, protect against chronic diseases, and provide antioxidant benefits. You can incorporate dried or fresh leaves easily into your diet by adding them to soups, salads, marinades, and sauces.

Here I actually added some parsley from my #RVgarden to the "boxed" macaroni and cheese because hey, it had to make it a bit healthier, right?!

I hope you are enjoying my posts from my RV Table cookbook series. Be sure to tag me on Instagram if you try any of these ideas out at your own RV or home gathering.
