Easy Butters: Make A Flight In Minutes

Warm rolls, roasted veggies, steak, and just about everything else I cook screams for some butter (sorry diet but I can't budge on this one!). Any way you slice it, a butter flight gives you yummy choices and makes everything taste better when you slather it with butter-y goodness.

One of my favorite things to do in the RV and at the cottage is walking out the screen door to my herb garden, snipping a few stems and making mini mason jars full of flavored butter (also known as compound butter). The good news is you can grow fresh herbs anywhere so they are available year round. If you don't want to try your hand at gardening, then nearly every grocery store today has herbs available.

If you decide to make a large batch at one time it's okay too because flavored butters can be frozen up to six months, so you can enjoy them anytime.

Prepping for Compound Butter Recipes

1. If I'm having guests over to my RV camp site or to my cottage, I like to offer a flight of butters for them to chose from. So, you first want to select which three butters you will make.

2. With the butter (I use only Kerry Gold Irish Butter) at room temperature, whip it with an electric mixer or with a spoon or spatula until it is smooth and soft.

3. Gently stir in your chopped herbs (wash and dry them thoroughly first) or other fresh ingredients. If you’re using dry spices, mix them together first so they incorporate evenly throughout the butter.

4. If you are making these for a dinner party or special occasion, you may want to consider using a silicone candy mold to make your butters into fancy shapes!

Fresh Garlic Herb Butter

Make my Garlic Butter for about anything - can be used to flavor steak, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables or as a spread for bread!

1/2 cup butter, softened

1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley, rosemary and thyme

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh grated

In a small mixing bowl, combine the butter, herbs, and garlic powder. Beat on medium-low speed until mixture is combined. Garnish with some parsley.

Lemon Butter

Sweet and tangy Lemon Butter goes perfectly on your favorite toast, biscuit, or scone for a refreshing and yummy treat. Make it in just 10 minutes with 5 ingredients!

1/2 cup 1 stick butter, softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons lemon curd

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Juice from 1 lemon

In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and serve on some biscuits or scones!

Strawberry Butter

In this photo, I am using my fresh strawberries grown from my RV garden, I whip up some sweet and decadent strawberry compound butter in a few minutes!

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

¼ cup strawberry preserves, organic

⅛ teaspoon kosher sea salt

In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and serve on some biscuits, toast or scones!
