5 Simple Ways to Brighten up Your Home for Spring
Updated: Apr 12, 2021
Welcome to Spring here at the cottage! If you're here visiting for the first time, thank you! If you are returning, I appreciate you coming back.
Spring definitely helps elevate my mood, and I'm sure it does you as well. So I want to share my 5 simple ways to brighten up your home for Spring.
Roses, Flowers, and Veggie Gardens
Front Door Accents
Fragrance
Plaids, Gingham, or Floral
Seasonal Colors
1. Roses, Flowers, and Veggie Gardens
I am such a rose, flower, and veggie garden lover, so while some of you may not be able to go outside just yet, adding some fresh (or faux flowers) can really help brighten your home for Spring.
2. Front Door Accents
My front porch also received some Spring decor with a new grapevine wreath I made with minimal florals and burlap ribbon.
I stayed with more natural looking decor, ones that look like they are simple because I did not want to distract from the beauty or historical white chippy door here at my Plains Cottage.
3. Spring Fragrance
I make my home room sprays because I do not like chemicals or aerosols in my cottage. My favorite recipe is Lavender Mint for this time of year. It not only smells great, but it also keeps pests away because they hate the smell.
I use Amber glass bottles that can be used for many purposes:
DIY Lavender Mint Room Spray Recipe:
1 - Amber glass bottle with sprayer
4 - 6 drops of Organic Lavender Essential Oil
4 - 6 drops of Organic Mint Essential Oil
3 oz distilled water
4. Plaids, Gingham, and Floral
I also love to add colorful tablecloths, pillows, rugs and other accent pieces to bring in the seasonal fabrics I’m going with.
5. Seasonal Colors
Last but not least, I love using mint green and pink pillows this time of year!
Simple details that make a big impact when bringing Spring into your home…that’s what will keep me smiling when I'm outside in the cottage garden or inside this beautiful historical charmer! #SpringDecor #CottageStyle #PlainsCottage #PlainsGeorgia
Happy Spring, Y'all.
